On Sunday April 19, 2009, the home of John and Elice Menear was lost in a tragic fire.
Also living in the home were daughter Sara Walker, her husband Eddie, as well as Sara and Eddie's six year old daughter Emma and three year old daughter Hannah.
The fire started in the garage but spread to the house, taking John and Elice's truck, toys, clothes, and memories with it.
This comes at a very tough time for the families as Eddie and Sara have been balancing both of their jobs and Sara's studies toward her nursing degree from Grand Valley State University.
The families are receiving initial support from the American Red Cross but face a long road ahead of them rebuilding their lives.
Friends and the surrounding Lakeshore communities began to rally almost immediately. A general online fund has been established to provide monetary support as the families begin picking up the pieces.
